Limestone Coast North BESS is a large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) located in South Australia’s Limestone Coast region. As the first of two battery projects within the Limestone Coast Energy Park, the project will play a key role in increasing South Australia’s energy storage capacity and supporting the state’s transition to a low-emissions future
Located approximately 16 kilometres north of Mount Gambier and 370 kilometres south-east of Adelaide, with a capacity of 250MW / 500MWh, Limestone Coast North BESS will connect to ElectraNet’s 275kV network near Mount Gambier. The project will store excess renewable energy and release it back to the grid during peak demand.
Limestone Coast North BESS is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in early 2027.
Limestone Coast North BESS was acquired by Palisade Investment Partners (Palisade) in March 2025.
